The Statutory bodies is composed of the following sub sectors; District Council, Public Accounts Committee, District Service Commission, District Land Board & District Contracts Committee.The major mandate of council is to perform legislative, oversight and representation roles. The Council formulates the district policies and ensure their implementation in compliance with the Government policy.

The current district council is the 3rd Council and consists of 40 members of council from 15 sub-counties and 4 town councils.
